  10.        Welcome to the IRIS Performer 2.0.4 / patch SG0001696
  11.        execution environment.  IRIS Performer 2.0.4 and patch
  12.        SG0001696 contain the level of Performer and thus these
  13.        release notes apply to both.  Patch SG0001696 can be used to
  14.        upgrade the eoe portion of Performer 2.0, 2.0.1, 2.0.2, or
  15.        2.0.3 to the level of 2.0.4.

  17.        This execution environment (eoe) includes upgrade DSOs for
  18.        Performer 2.0 as well as a 2.1.2 subsystem to upgrade DSOs
  19.        for Performer 2.1.

  21.        IRIS Performer provides a powerful and extensible
  22.        programming interface (with ANSI C and C++ bindings) for
  23.        creating real-time visual simulation and other interactive
  24.        graphics applications. IRIS Performer 2.0.4 supports both
  25.        the IRIS Graphics Library (IRIS GL) and the industry
  26.        standard OpenGL graphics library (2.1.2 supports OpenGL
  27.        only).  These libraries combine with the IRIX operating
  28.        system and REACT extensions to form the foundation of a
  29.        powerful suite of tools and features for creating real-time
  30.        visual simulation applications on Silicon Graphics systems.

  32.        IRIS Performer 2.0.4 is binary compatible with Performer 2.0
  33.        with some additional bug fixes. The minor version number of
  34.        the IRIS Performer 2.0.4 and 2.1.2 DSOs has been incremented
  35.        so that the new version numbers are sgi2.3 and and sgi3.1,
  36.        respectively.  This allows these DSOs be be differentiated
  37.        from those shipped with the 2.0-2.0.2 and 2.1 versions of
  38.        Performer.

  41.        IRIS Performer 2.0[.X] is an integral part of the
  42.        Onyx/RealityEngine and Indigo2/Impact graphics systems and
  43.        provides interfaces to advanced features of RealityEngine-
  44.        class graphics. IRIS Performer is compatible with
  45.        uniprocessor and multiprocessor SGI graphics platforms and
  46.        attains maximum performance on all.  IRIS Performer provides
  47.        an extensible basis for creating real-time 3D graphics
  48.        applications in the fields of visual simulation,
  49.        entertainment, virtual reality, broadcast video, and
  50.        computer aided design. IRIS Performer is the flexible,
  51.        intuitive, toolkit-based solution for developers who want to
  52.        optimize performance on Silicon Graphics systems.

  55.        dynamic shared objects for runtime linking for applications
  56.        based on IRIS Performer, as well as the perfly demonstration
  57.        program and sample data files.
